Going deeper

The Psalms give us a great opportunity to deepen our relationship with God. Each Psalm is an expression of the feelings of the writer about what is happening to them. There are Psalms of joy and worship, Psalms of fear and sadness, and there are Psalms of anger and supplication. They allow us to experience the emotions of a believer as they are expressed directly to their Lord and God.

When we read the Psalms, we can first aim to understand what the writer is saying and why. Some of the Psalms help us by identifying who the writer is and they even give some of the back story to the writing. From there, we can aim to understand their view of the God in whom they trust.

One technique that can help us is to question what we are reading and in this section, I have aimed to provide questions for understanding the Psalms better.
