Psalm 23 reimagined – version 2

A psalm of David

1. When I was a shepherd, the Lord was my shepherd, and then as now, I had all that I needed.
2. He leads me to places where I can rest and flourish.
3. He builds my strength and energy. He leads me on a journey that is good for me and good for him too.
4. When I get to life’s darkest places, you are my closest companion. I do not need to be afraid, because you protect and encourage me.
5. Now I am a king and you are the king-maker, and you give me victories over my enemies to celebrate. You set me apart for your work and give me all that I need and more.
6. Whatever the future holds, your love and kindness will overwhelm me as long as I breathe and my place will be in your presence forever.
