A Psalm written by Korah’s family and given to the Choir Director.
- Like the runner sucks breath in to burning lungs, so my being gasps for your infilling, Creator God.
- I ache for your presence, my Creator, my God. When can I be with you?
- Day and night my only relief comes from sobbing, while my detractors denounce me with their challenges “Where is this Creator God of yours?”
- My broken heart remembers how I used to love joining the crowds as they worshipped while marching to the house of the Creator. I was in the middle leading the praise with joy and thanks.
- Why is my soul drained and my heart distraught? My hope is in my Creator knowing that I will praise him / her again when he / she rescues me.
- I feel distant from the deep flowing river of your presence, my Creator. It seems like I am stranded in the mountains where the flow is the merest trickle.
- Yet your crashing waves come thundering over me – brutal and fearful.
- But your faithful love pours over me each day, Lord – during every waking moment and every hour of my sleepless nights. I will sing the songs your Spirit teaches me and offer the prayers you breathe into me.
- My God, you are my solid ground. Why have you forgotten me? Why do you let me wander dazed and in grief with my ears ringing with the taunts of my enemies?
- Their teasing drains the life from me as they challenge me saying “Where is your Creator?”
- Why is my soul drained and my heart distraught? My hope is in my Creator knowing that I will praise him / her again when he / she rescues me.
