Psalm 46 reimagined

Written by Korah’s family and given to the choir director who was asked to arrange it for soprano voices.

  1. The Creator is our place of safety and the source of all the resilience we need.
  2. The earth may quake and the high sea cliffs may collapse, but we will not shake with fear.
  3. The tsunamis may bring disaster and the hurricanes may bring destruction.

PAUSE

  1. It is a delight to be adopted into the Creator’s family and to spend time in the presence of the Greatest of all Time.  His / her closeness is like a river which does the impossible, bringing life to the most inaccessible places.
  2. The Creator lives with his / her people, so they won’t be devastated.  All round the clock, he / she will be their guardian.
  3. Political regimes are in upheaval and national structures are disintegrating but his / her voice gives clear leadership and all creation responds.
  4. The Lord, the commander of all creation’s forces, is right here with us.  Our Creator gives strength and protection to his / her people.

PAUSE

  1. See for yourself the amazing accomplishments of the Lord.  Look at how he / she crushes oppression.
  2. He / she causes peace to break out in all areas of conflict.  He / she destroys all weaponry and neutralises all military technology.
  1. “Quieten your hearts and minds and understand that I am the Creator.  I will receive the respect and admiration from all leaders and all peoples.”
  1. The Lord, the commander of all creation’s forces, is right here with us.  Our Creator gives strength and protection to his / her people.
