Psalm 62 reimagined

A psalm which David gave to Jeduthun, the Choir Director to arrange.

  1. It is my Creator who gives me success, so I am going to be patient and wait for his / her timing.
  2. He / she is my solid ground and my liberator; he / she is my guardian, so I will never be caught unawares.
  1. I seem to have so many rivals, each one wanting to oppose me and bring me down.  They see me as a lame duck and a procrastinator.
  2. Their goal is to oust me as their leader and whilst they flatter me to my face, behind my back they denounce me, accusing me of things I have not done.

PAUSE

  1. I set aside my worries and plans for revenge, and patiently hold back for my Creator to act, for he / she has my confidence.
  2. He / she is my solid ground and my liberator; he / she is my guardian, so I will never be caught unawares.
  3. My success and recognition come only from my Creator.  He / she is my solid ground, so I can remain firm.
  4. This is my advice to all who will listen, put all your confidence in the Creator.  Spend time alone with him / her and let him / her know exactly how you feel.

PAUSE

  1. You could opt for the quiet life but would have no purpose and sense of achievement.  You could chase power as others do, but to what end?  Both approaches produce less of substance than an exhaled breath.
  1. Steer clear of making a living from oppressing people or abusing their good nature.  Do not focus your life on what you can acquire and own.
  1. My Creator has made it very clear to me, not once but many times: he has all authority.
  2. Boss, your love is inexhaustible.  In the end, you will reward us when we place our confidence in you.
