Psalm 123 reimagined

This song was sung by the travelers to Jerusalem as they climbed up towards the city.

  1. I ask you for your help, you who are greater than all the material universe.
  2. As tiring lungs gasp for a quick intake of breath or a parched mouth gulps at a glass of cool water, we need you, Lord our Creator, to show us your compassion and tender-heartedness.
  3. Show us your love, Lord, show us your support, for we are exhausted by the ridicule.
  4. The cynics have laughed at our beliefs and the arrogant have told us that we are wrong, and we cannot take any more.
